Introduction to Dance/Movement Therapy Supervision

Course Description:  Clinical supervision is an essential component of the progression of development for novice therapists, with researchers suggesting that supervision has become the primary means for ongoing counselor growth and development. In this one-hour workshop, participants will learn about the history and evolving understanding of dance/movement therapy specific supervision, emerging with a definition and basic theoretical underpinnings of the practice. Akin to this, the workshop will provide an overview of techniques and practices commonly utilized as well as supervisee learning outcomes for DMT supervision. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of the unique approach and thus the unique possibilities for further engagement with embodied, experiential supervision.
