Additional Details

Dance is a universal human practice that supports individual and collective healing. In this course, students explore how dance as a powerful therapeutic tool is used across cultures and history, recognizing some of theย underlying principles essential to therapeutic dance practice.

The course specifically examines how therapeutic dance can be used in community, educational, and performance settings. Grounded in an experiential and inquiry-based pedagogy, students will experience movement experiences that support embodied, self-reflective learning and connects theory to lived experience, collective potential and deep personal expression.

Students will also reflect upon their own movement backgrounds, passions and influences. By gaining a broader understanding of the possibilities within therapeutic dance, they will identify the environments and populations in which they feel called to work.
